Basic Options within RaceDay

Here’s a summary and explanation of each option  within the RaceDay Event Software, providing insights on what each setting does:

1. One Day License Fee

  • Purpose: If athletes pay an onsite one-day license fee, you can enter the price for this fee here. The total amount collected from riders paying this fee will be calculated and reflected in the Event Summary Report.

2. Event Insurance Fee

  • Purpose: For events where you need to pay an insurance fee based on the number of unique athletes, you can input the cost here. This will be used to calculate the total cost of the event and will appear in the Event Summary Report.

3. Event Optional Fee

  • Purpose: Allows you to add an optional event-specific fee. You can give the fee a name (e.g., association fee) and specify an amount for it. This fee will then be included in the Event Summary Report.

4. Best Young Rider Age

  • Purpose: If your event includes the Best Young Rider category, you can set the age limit here. By default, RaceDay sets the category to Under 23, meaning athletes who are 22 years old. You can change this value as per your event’s needs.

5. Time Cut

  • Purpose: This option allows you to set a time cut (percentage) for multi-day events. The default is 20%, but you can adjust it as needed. This is managed in the Results List screen under the Results Drop-Down.

6. Results Tie Breakers

  • Purpose: Allows you to configure how ties are handled in multi-day events for stage or Omnium scoring. There are five available options for tie-breaking:
    1. Winner of the stage (set in the Results GC Screen)
    2. Sum of the rider placements across stages (lowest total wins)
    3. Place in the last stage
    4. Tenths of seconds from a selected stage
    5. Number of stage wins
  • You can set the order of tie-breakers by listing them in the desired sequence, separated by commas.

7. Same Time LIF/CSV Import

  • Purpose: In scoring systems where times are recorded to the hundredths or thousandths of a second, this option allows you to group athletes who finish within a specified time range and assign them the same time. This is commonly used in cycling events to standardize the scoring.

8. GC Inc Tenths in Calcs

  • Purpose: Enables the use of tenths of seconds in calculating the General Classification (GC) standings. If enabled, the system will use tenths of seconds for more precise calculations.

Additional Features:

  • Digital Waiver: Allows you to turn on the USA Cycling Digital Waiver feature for athletes to digitally sign waivers.
  • Add Bib to Registration Form: Adds a bib number input field to the Onsite Registration Screen.
  • Select Top Results in Series: This feature allows you to set how many top results from a series will count towards the final series result.
  • Min/Max Riders for Best Team Overall: Used to set the minimum or maximum number of riders required to calculate the Best Team Overall.
  • Participant Help: Displays helpful information in a yellow box on the top-right corner of the screen during registration.
  • Stage Alias: Allows you to rename race stage types (e.g., change Road Race to Gravel Race).
  • Split Reports by Bib: Enables you to generate reports for a specific range of bib numbers within a category.
  • GC Report Name: Allows you to customize the name used for the General Classification on related reports.
  • Automatically Publish Reports: Automatically triggers the publish screen on all report pages.
  • Publish Results to Third-Party Server: Sends results as a JSON file to a third-party server for further processing.
  • Lap Scoring: Enables lap scoring for events (useful for track cycling or lap-based races).
  • Take Payment at Registration: Allows you to take payments during the Onsite Registration process. It’s recommended to review the knowledge base before enabling this feature to ensure it’s set up properly.
