Siting up Categories
-
Stage:
- The specific stage or phases of the event you’re managing. Multiple stages can be listed in a drop-down menu. This is a required field.
-
Category Name:
- The specific category for participants (e.g., Men’s Elite, Women’s Junior, etc.). This is a required field. It’s crucial that the category name is consistent, especially for time scoring.
-
Category Start Time:
- This is the scheduled start time for a particular category. This is optional and doesn’t affect the athlete’s individual timing.
-
Category Offset Time:
- If multiple categories are starting at different times, this field helps adjust subsequent categories by a set amount (e.g., the second category could start 5 minutes after the first one). Optional.
-
Category Distance:
- The total race or competition distance for a particular category. This can differ across categories, and it’s used to calculate things like the winner’s average speed. Optional.
-
Max Participants:
- This sets a cap on the number of participants for the category. Once the limit is reached, a warning or override message appears. Optional.
-
Entry Fee:
- The fee charged to each participant for the category. This is optional and is typically set on-site.
-
Laps:
- If you are scoring by lap, this setting would be activated to reflect that. Optional, depending on your event’s scoring method.
You can add or remove categories as needed, but be aware that deleting a category will also remove all athletes assigned to it. Additionally, the names of categories must be consistent for time-based scoring to work properly across multiple stages
